On the 23rd August, 8 CITC cyclists will be braving the epic 7 day ride from Lake Geneva to Provence and St.Tropez.  The ‘Raid Alpin’ is a classic road cycling challenge covering 700km over tough mountainous terrain, including an arduous ascent in excess of 14,000m.

CITC’s Mike Hagen and Alan Alker will be cycling the long and winding road from Liverpool to the starting point in Geneva, meaning they will have covered over 800 miles before they even begin the challenge!

As part of a Global Rotary Bid, donations could be matched, meaning that every £10 raised will increase to £25 plus Gift Aid.  This is great opportunity to maximise the proceeds which will make a huge difference to our project work.

All money raised will go towards building classrooms in the remote village of Bung in Nepal.  Progress is already being made here; in April with the support of a Rotary Grant, CITC were able to open high quality, earthquake resistant classrooms.  The development included furniture, gender specific toilets and clean running water.  The new build has made an incredible difference, replacing 4 out of 21 inadequate classrooms but there is still work to be done.  Our continued efforts will benefit over 700 students, as well as their families.
